2020-21 Season Announcement
Hello friends of the CVJO,
What a ride, eh? Over the last few months, we’ve been trying to plan for our 2020-21 performance season. We’ve been waiting, deliberating, jamming, swearing, laughing, cocktailing, crying, baking sourdough, and everything in between. Do we cancel? Do we play? Will anyone be there if we do?
Here’s the scoop.
In early July, the Pablo Center announced that any events before January 2021 would get a go/no-go call 30 days before the event. They have a tough job, and we’ve got their back. That said, a 30 day window just isn’t enough time for us to actually produce a quality concert for you. Scheduling our band members, socially distanced rehearsals, creating marketing materials, and all of the other bits and pieces typically take about twice that time.
We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our October and December concerts. We’re still a go for February and May of 2021.
“I want to let you know how disappointed I am that this decision needed to be made,” said Board President Geoff Peterson, “but I do think it is in the best interests of the organization as a whole.”
Scott Hensiack, Musical Director, told the band members “I appreciate everything that each musician brings to the table for all of our concerts and rehearsals. I cannot wait to hear you all again.”
We couldn’t agree more, so please wear your masks so we can all get together for some music soon.
